Artist's Description

Recently while out in The Hill Country west of Austin, I decided to come back to Austin at night at photograph the State Capitol Building.
I wanted to shoot it at night so I could capture the lighting and isolate it from all the other structures and everything else, plus I find night shots of structures just generally interesting. This was shot at about 11:30PM and there were surprisingly few people around which was great, plus I was able to get a fairly close parking spot so I did not have to walk far.
In the foreground you can see through the skylights of part of the underground Capitol Extension which is actually 4 stories under the ground that is 667,000 square feet!
Hope you like it!

I had the opportunity to build a pinhole camera from scratch and then use it to make photographs which I developed in the dark room. Fast forward quite a few years and I am still fascinated with photography and excited about the ability to use it to create art that conveys the feeling, beauty and awe of the world, the way I see and feel it in person. I love to explore,...
