I shot this early morning the last time I was in Galveston. I was initially hoping for a nice sunrise over the water, so I set my alarm early and headed to the beach while it was still dark. As it was getting lighter you could see that the skies were too cloudy for the sunrise image I had in mind but I decided to set up anyway and see how dramatic the skies were going to be. Turned out to be pretty awesome. I think the black and white makes it even more dramatic.

I had the opportunity to build a pinhole camera from scratch and then use it to make photographs which I developed in the dark room. Fast forward quite a few years and I am still fascinated with photography and excited about the ability to use it to create art that conveys the feeling, beauty and awe of the world, the way I see and feel it in person.
